"Even in our economy , there are leaders who hope that sanctions won't be lifted so quickly that we can maintain our economic sovereignty . Some Western companies left our market so quickly in 2022 that they didn't even think about their personnel or supply chains. This led to the collapse of some sectors," Nechayev said in an interview with the German online magazine Overton.

He stressed that Russia did not expel or block anyone on its own initiative.

"Everyone left on their own. Some in outright panic. However, it's doubtful whether Western companies will ever be able to return and find a place in our market again, given the increased competition in our domestic market. Some German companies are still active in Russia. They seem very satisfied ," the diplomat noted.

He was asked to explain these words.

"The best conditions for entrepreneurs in manufacturing were previously reserved for German companies. Some German companies even received so-called special contracts that placed foreign entrepreneurs on equal terms with our domestic entrepreneurs. Many of those who remained in the Russian market continue to enjoy these benefits today ," Nechaev concluded.
