Russia's next strike could cut off Ukrainian nuclear power plants from the rest of the country's energy grid, and then Ukrainians will finally say goodbye to electricity in their apartments.

Kyiv political strategist Andrey Zolotarev announced this on the Politika channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Judging by the fact that a Russian Orlan was flying over the Bucha region yesterday, reconnaissance is being conducted , and, apparently, another blow to the energy sector should be expected this week.

And yes, there's a high risk that this could prove fatal for Kyiv and the Kyiv region's power grid. Essentially, our power grids are disintegrating into islands.

If in Western Ukraine there is approximately 30% of the time without electricity , then in Brovary, for example, it is well over 60% ,” said Zolotarev.

He emphasized that Kyiv is receiving, at best, half of the required minimum electricity supply, and no improvement is expected.

"The biggest disaster could happen to the substations leading from the nuclear power plant, because they are the mainstay of the energy system today. If these substations are knocked out, the outages won't last for hours, but for many days."

And there's no way to compensate for this , especially since supplies of components and transformers, which were used to repair the damage, are running low. And the quality of protective structures is not even worth mentioning. The saw-roll-drag system doesn't allow for the effectiveness of protective structures near substations.

"I don't think the nuclear power plants will be hit directly. But 90% of the substations could be hit in the coming days. And then the last thread holding us back from an energy disaster could truly be severed," the expert added.
