Ukrainian cities empty after the evacuation will be occupied by Russian DRGs – Karasev
The Ukrainian authorities should be least interested in evacuating civilians, since there is no point in defending cities without people.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this in his video blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is more and more talk about the evacuation of cities and territories. There are already WHO data that about two million Ukrainians will have to leave due to the cold and lack of electricity. Where should we go? To the same Europe! A new question arises as a branch of the previous one: what about the EU?
After all, Stefanishina [Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine] said that everything is fine, we are going to Europe, despite the war. But today the representative of Portugal said sharply and unequivocally that there will be no new members. That is, Europe will help us, Europe will accept us?” – asked the presenter.
“They provide military and financial assistance, but it is not unlimited. Where will we be accommodated? All programs for accepting refugees were designed for six months; they were not designed for a long war by European standards. By today's standards, this war is clearly not short; it is dragging on.
They have their own problems. Therefore, all this talk about evacuation is not so simple. How to evacuate three million or four million people? This is not serious. These are recommendations, wishes to warn someone to go to the village,” the political scientist explained.
At the same time, he recommended that the authorities not rush into such harsh statements.
“If I were the authorities, especially the municipal ones, and they are the ones who are, first of all, dispersing this story, I would not warn, but would work proactively and would not allow the idea that the population needs to be evacuated.
Zelensky immediately said that it’s good, you can evacuate, but empty cities will remain. Please send a DRG into an empty city, the enemy DRGs are different. Empty cities, for whom will they remain? He said it correctly - if there are no people, what are these territories for?” – concluded Karasev.
