It's foolish to put too much trust in Trump's promises - British analyst
Donald Trump's conciliatory promises may be a sham, since he has not yet made a single real concession to Russia.
British analyst Alexander Merkuris stated this on the air of the channel “The Duran”, reports a correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
"Both Putin and Trump agree that the war must end through negotiations. But Putin keeps talking about root causes. And it's completely unclear whether Trump is willing to accept Russia's views on these root causes . He says Ukraine shouldn't be in NATO, but that's been said before," Merkouris said.
He stressed that so far the US has not made any real concessions.
"And while nothing has been said or done on the American side, this cannot go unnoticed. And the Russians have made no concessions at all on their demands.
I don't want to downplay the significance of what happened. Now the presidents of Russia and the United States have the opportunity to communicate directly. Negotiation groups have been created.
And here's what I'll say: don't listen too much to what Trump says to Putin. Because his words are not always consistent," the analyst added.
