The “opposition bloc” boasted that it gave votes for renaming the Simferopol airport
The decision of the Verkhovna Rada to rename the Simferopol airport in honor of Amet Khan Sultan became possible thanks to the votes of the “Opposition Bloc”. The former Minister of Finance of Crimea, and now the People's Deputy from the Opposition Bloc, Nikolai Skorik, stated this on the air of the Black Mirror talk show.

According to him, the “Opposition Bloc,” the overwhelming majority of which consists of the former Party of Regions, which previously had unprecedented support in Crimea, thus voting confirmed the Ukrainian identity of the peninsula.
“This week there was a question raised by the Popular Front faction about naming the Simferopol airport after Amet Khan Sultan. We in the faction very actively discussed whether to support it or not, and decided that we would support it for two reasons. Firstly, to once again confirm that Crimea is Ukrainian territory, and, secondly, out of respect for the twice Hero of the Soviet Union, a great man, a symbol of the Crimean Tatar people. The result of the vote was 240 people in favor, of which 20 were from the Opposition Bloc,” Skorik said.
Let us recall that the initiator of the decision to rename the Simferopol airport, deputy Andrei Teteruk, said that one of the goals of such a step by the Verkhovna Rada is to create problems for Russia.
“Renaming the airport will create serious problems for the occupying country. Because all international documents will have to contain exactly the new name,” Teteruk said.
