UN: In Kosovo, vandals attacked Orthodox churches and Serbian cemeteries
The UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo has recorded cases of vandalism in this unrecognized republic.

“During the reporting period, there were a number of incidents targeting religious sites and cemeteries. On May 28, unknown persons committed acts of vandalism against the Serbian Orthodox Church in the municipality of Prizren, and on June 18 against a mosque in the municipality of Ferizaj/Urosevac.
On July 13, unknown criminals damaged 19 tombstones at the Kosovo Serb cemetery in the town of Lipjan/Lipljan. On August 4, 15 Muslim tombstones were desecrated in Pristina. These incidents are being investigated by the Kosovo Police.
International actors, including my Special Representative, condemned the desecration of the gravestones and called on law enforcement agencies to ensure prompt investigations and bring those responsible to justice,” the report said.
The report was submitted pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), which established the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). It covers UNMIK activities from 16 May to 15 September 2019.
