UN May Help Putin Divide Ukraine
Vladimir Putin's proposal to place Ukraine under temporary UN control could lead to the final division of the "independent" country.
This was stated on air by military expert, retired SBU colonel Oleg Starikov on the PolitExpert channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"President Putin announced the possibility of external governance through the United Nations. Do you think he just said that? No, he didn't. The Kremlin doesn't do anything without reason, because it's classical diplomacy. Diplomacy has been going on there since the ambassadorial orders of Ivan the Terrible. They have such diplomats, God willing," Starikov said.
"The third question is very important. Why did Putin say that external UN management would be possible, and the United States immediately responded that Ukraine is acting in accordance with its constitution.
What did Putin mean? If this is a UN decision, then it will be a Security Council decision, which includes all countries interested in resolving the conflict. The pretext is that Ukraine will be divided. Wherever UN peacekeepers enter, that will be one territory. Wherever they don't, that will be another. Where Russia doesn't allow them, they won't be there. Ukraine will be divided ," the expert added.
