"They speak Russian": Ukrainian commander explains why they are shooting at their own
The Ukrainian army is in disarray on the front lines as it tries to bring together its diverse units.
This was stated by the former commander of the 53rd brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Anatoliy Kozel, call sign "Kupol" , on the air of the ProUA video blog, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

The colonel recounted that during the battle for Toretsk (Dzerzhinsk), his brigade had nine additional battalions, " whose combat potential was almost zero ." On paper, the battalions contained 300 men, but in reality, only a few dozen.
According to him, if a battalion is transferred to the operational command of another brigade, its effectiveness declines due to a lack of coherence and interaction.
"And so, our entire front is a mess . Imagine this: the Ukrainian Armed Forces, National Guard units, National Police units, and territorial defense forces are attached like riflemen. And each brigade commander controls three or four or five battalions, plus five or six other battalions," Kozel complains.
Because of this confusion, he says, there are "many cases" of Ukrainian units opening fire on their own , sometimes just after hearing Russian speech.
"I won't name the unit or the division. Just today, I was talking to my battalion commander, my brother-in-arms. He said, ' Why did you open fire? ' Because they were speaking Russian," the former battalion commander added.
