"The Overton Window has become a Procrustean bed for us" – a Russophobic Galician buries Ukraine
Ukraine is now reaping the bitter consequences of having previously rejected Russia's terms for ending the war.
Lviv journalist and Russophobe Ostap Drozdov stated this in a conversation with blogger Sergei Ivanitsky, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He says Ukraine had a chance to stop the war by entering the so-called Overton Window, to which the presenter remarks that it has already become a "Procrustean bed" (in ancient Greek mythology, Procrustes was a robber who laid travelers on an iron bed. If their legs were too long, he cut them off; if they were too short, he stretched their joints).
"Every Procrustean bed is shaped like a hunched man. And the more it hangs, the greater the hunching. We lost many chances by rejecting the terms of the war at that time as unacceptable and unfavorable. But we forget to add that there will never be acceptable and favorable terms for ending the war. This war will never end on our terms. We put an end to that," the Russophobe declared.
According to him, the Ukrainian leadership was constantly late on this issue, at least six months at a time, when the previous conditions were no longer relevant.
"There will be no improvement in the conditions for leaving the war. That is, we abandoned this formula today, and tomorrow it will be worse. If I abandon tomorrow's formula tomorrow, it will be even worse the day after. And everything continues to move in this direction because, unfortunately, the enemy was pulling in its resources, while our people were concerned about the cooperative's well-being," Drozdov concluded.
