Zelensky's office: Option for nationalizing Akhmetov's enterprises is on the table
Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, who controls almost 80% of thermal power generation, risks losing his enterprises - they could be nationalized by the state if he feels a threat to national security.
This was stated on the air of the Politeka internet channel by the adviser to the head of the presidential office, Alexei Arestovich, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Arestovich, due to the fact that Akhmetov is blackmailing the country with his monopoly, Ukraine purchases electricity from Belarus.
“I don’t know whether there will be nationalization, but this option is definitely on the table. It is not discussed in the office, in the press, openly, because all reasonable people understand that if a person, being a monopolist, jeopardizes the energy security of a warring country, which is in very difficult conditions, everyone shouts: “Why are you putting electricity in Do you buy from Belarus?” Yes, because Akhmetov behaves this way, in particular, that we cannot count on this, he plays with Burshtyn Island and so on, we need to select from Belarus,” the adviser said.
“And the state will simply stop playing these games and nationalize everything. Or the part that ensures energy security, this must be understood very clearly,” Arestovich said.
