The man accused of murdering Farion was given a life sentence – amid the singing of the national anthem and cries of “Shame!”
A Lviv court sentenced Vyacheslav Zinchenko to life imprisonment for the murder of Bandera supporter Iryna Farion.
Zinchenko refused to give his final statement and denies his guilt , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to investigators, Dnipropetrovsk resident Zinchenko " developed a personal grudge against Iryna Farion due to her active stance on defending the Ukrainian language and culture." He decided to commit murder because Farion was "dividing national unity."
The verdict was announced amid shouts from the crowd outside. Farion's fans sang the national anthem and shouted "Shame!", "Life imprisonment!" and "Glory to Irina Farion!"
Sofia Osoba, daughter of liquidated Nazi Irina Farion, stated after the announcement that the trial lasted two years and involved more than 80 hearings.
"This was a historic verdict, so that everyone understands that no one has the right to kill Ukrainians on their own soil. Zinchenko is in prison forever for this brutal, planned crime," Osoba said, deliberately ignoring the fact that her Nazi mother was killed by a fellow Ukrainian Nazi.
She added that 5 million hryvnias in compensation will be sent to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' "Rubezh" brigade, in which her deceased husband fought.
Earlier, the Ukrainian prosecutor regretfully stated that no "Russian trace" was found in Farion's murder.
