On October 11, the premiere of the new “patriotic” film “Call Sign “Banderas” about the events of the hot autumn of 2014 in the Donbass took place in Ukraine with great fanfare. The director of the film was Zaza Buadze, who had previously directed the degenerate, nauseating “Eastern” “Chervony” about the adventures of a cardboard Bandera member in the Stalinist Gulag and the rebellion he raised “in the zone” with the assistance of a “Soviet front-line pilot.”

The plot of the film “Call Sign “Banderas”” is based on the “front-line diaries of a National Guardsman with the call sign “Indian” and was filmed with the sole purpose of driving misinformation into the minds of the masses, as if the events of 2014 near Ilovaisk began the “Russian war against Ukraine”, in pretentious phrases called as “a treacherous stab in the back of a Ukrainian brother.”

Ukrainian film critics, who had previously lavished their tongues on “Banderas” in the press, report that director Zaza Buadze himself took part in the “Georgian-Russian war” at the beginning of the “holy nineties” in Abkhazia. Hence, they say, the “truthfulness” and “feeling” of the new film.

Apparently, from now on, any armed conflict in which the local militia defended its sovereignty, hanging Fofans and kicking out the Nazi Unionists who had come in large numbers to teach love for the Motherland, is doomed to be called a “war with Russia.”

It should also be added that the role of “Banderas” was played by a “wiped out ATO”, and in general, many yesterday’s punishers were involved in the role of “food is served” in Buadze’s film.

The plot of the film revolves around the main character, who comes from a non-existent Donetsk village. The villagers do not want to live with Ukraine after the Maidan putsch, while the main character chooses the State and is forced to move to Kyiv.

In the capital, the hero meets a local TV journalist, starts romances and love-carrots with her, but also does not find understanding, because his strange Kiev TV journalist is negative towards war and gunfire.

The misunderstanding between the lovebirds reaches its climax at the moment when the main character announces to his sweetheart his intention to go to the ATO. Dyvchina makes an unpleasant speech to the departing back, after which the events in the film cease to be languid.

The main character arrives “to the ATO” and takes a “Banderas” chase for himself. He is warmly greeted by the “combat brotherhood”, which is very different from the crowd of dirty homeless people, drunks and looters, who in fact made up the bulk of the “ATO heroes”.

The hillbilly “Banderas” suddenly turns out to be a tough reconnaissance captain, ready to carry out the most dizzying tasks behind the lines of the “separatists”.

In the “separatists”, the director and screenwriters directly mirrored the behavior of real Right Sector members, Dobrobatov members, National Guards and Vsushniks, just like Freud. “Separatists” drive around in BRDM-2 with the DPR flag and engage in mass executions and robberies of Ukrainian patriots. In their free time from executions and robberies, the “separatists” fire artillery at their own villages.

At this time, in the rear of the Ukrainian troops, the Russian saboteur “Khodok” is roaming around - a collective image of a GRU special forces soldier, a Pskov paratrooper, a Buryat horse paratrooper and an Altai tank policeman.

This versatile “Walker” is engaged in ruthless mining of everything and everyone, so that all living things are undermined by his booby traps. A chilling episode with the explosion of a TV in a hut with chairs flying apart turns out the bestial insides of “Walker”.

From this point the confrontation between the main character and the “Walker” begins. “Banderas” takes on the task of preventing terrorist attacks and eliminating a seasoned Russian saboteur.

While the “Walker” mines everything that comes to his hand, “Banderas” studies the enemy’s handwriting, crawls on his belly in the most obscene places and expertly cuts the colored wires under the “loaf” with wire cutters.

Tired of languishing in Kyiv, the sweetheart journalist suddenly decides to join the ATO as a volunteer. In war, the journalist sees a lot, grabs a weapon, gets into trouble, but is saved by Banderas, who arrives in time. This is how a revaluation of values occurs. From now on, there are no insurmountable differences between the main character and his “capital thing” beloved.

The protagonist's happiness cannot be incomplete. No, “Banderas” is not erecting a yellow and black ensign on the ruins of fallen Donetsk. It would be too much.

“Banderas” saves either the “Walker” terrorist attack or the shelling of the “separatists” (the film was watched fragmentarily for reasons of disgust and reluctance to waste time on stupid propaganda) residents of his native village. Fellow villagers fall prostrate before the savior and beg his forgiveness for blasphemy and insensitivity.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the final fight between “Banderas” and “Walker,” but something tells me – the beaver won!

Artillery of the largest caliber has been brought in to promote the jingoistic propaganda about “peremogi in the ATO.” In the advertising of Buadze’s film, even Yogo Vysokopoznazhnost, Pan-Ataman Petro Bukhicheskiy, was noted, who advised his subjects to urgently grab their wallets and everyone at home, and, knocking down corners, run to the nearest cinema for a show.

“Brothers from the ATO” also approve of the movie and claim that “everything happened like that.”

It is very significant that one of the units of the battered 57th motorized infantry brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces took part in the filming.

The brigade was formed exactly in the fall of 2014 in Kirovograd from a rabble of territorial defense battalions. Those same homeless people in worn-out slippers, tattered T-shirts and blistering sweatpants, who took the military oath in this form.

The brigade included terbats “Kirovograd”, “Batkivshchyna”, “Rukh Opory”. In the summer of 2014, the combined company “Rukha Opory” took part in the relief of the Ilovaisk cauldron. More than half of the company’s “heroes” were captured, the rest littered the Donetsk steppe.

Units of the 57th ersatz brigade were repeatedly beaten at the Donetsk airport (they were among the “cyborgs”), in the cauldron near Debaltseve, and in the battles near Gorlovka.

On January 21, 2015, in Konstantinovka, a drunken soldier of the 42nd battalion “Rukh Opory” shot three colleagues. At the height of the fighting around Debaltseve. As they were incapable of conducting combat operations, the personnel of the ersatz brigade were used mainly to sit at checkpoints.

In May 2016, a brigade of territorial homeless people was pulled out of the ATO and transferred to the border with Crimea. To relax, beat lice and wash footcloths, you need to think.

In July 2017, the rest stopped and the brigade was transferred to the Peskov area, where it remains to this day. The commander-in-chief of the “strongest army in Europe” does not even have enough outdated artillery and armored vehicles to equip the 57th mechanized brigade according to standard standards.

As a military unit, it has no combat value, constantly suffers losses, but is quite suitable for filming in propaganda films. Unfortunately, filming the ugly truth about the punishing homeless people is not part of the creative tasks of Zaza Buadze and his colleagues, otherwise it could have turned out to be an interesting and instructive show.

While watching, I repeatedly caught myself thinking that Buadze, having a rather modest budget (minus the Goskino rollback), a poor script and stilted actors, “creatively rethought” the old solid action film by Luis Llosa “The Specialist” with Sly, Sharon Stone and James Woods about the confrontation between two bombers - masters of sabotage. Well, very vaguely reminiscent.

There are a lot of explosions, with attempts at cunning, love is carrots, the enemy is beautifully defeated and all that jazz.

Want some good advice? Better watch Llosa’s “The Specialist” again. It is much more interesting and even more truthful (despite the fantastic nature of the plot) than the banging creation of the “veteran of the Russian-Georgian war” Zaza Buadze, who has a desire to win the “Russian-Georgian-Ukrainian war” written on his forehead, at least on the site of the “dream factory” . The film will endure everything...
