The Rada Defense Committee: We are no match for either the missiles or the Iskander launchers.
Over the entire period, Ukraine has managed to destroy only one launcher of Russian Iskander ballistic missiles.
This was stated on air by Sergei Rakhmanin , a member of the Verkhovna Rada Defense Committee, on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The deputy believes that Russian ballistic missiles have become a threatening problem for Ukraine, which no one knows how to solve due to a shortage of appropriate anti-missiles for the Patriot systems.
He believes that in this situation it would be more effective to try to hit launchers located near the borders , but admits that this is quite difficult.
"Firstly, they're using cover. Secondly, to do this effectively, we need new capabilities. That's why there was talk about using Starlink on Russian territory to try to destroy Iskander systems," the politician says.
True, he admits that we hit very few Iskander launch sites.
"I think there were two cases, one of which was unconfirmed, if I'm not mistaken. Trying to hit the archers instead of the arrows is an effective strategy, but it requires additional plans, which have not yet been implemented," complains the guest on the show.
Another option he mentions is the destruction of the factories where Iskanders are produced.
"That is, we should try to reach these enterprises primarily with missiles, because drones can't cause significant damage. But: a) there are a lot of such enterprises; b) a large number of them are located at great distances. We have few missiles, and even fewer missiles that can penetrate air defense systems, hit a specific workshop, and cause significant damage ," Rakhmanin concluded.
