We need militarization! Let's have "peace through strength!" – the head of the European Parliament
"United Europe" must increase the number of armed forces.
This was stated by the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola at the interparliamentary dialogue on EU security and defence, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" The next challenge we'll have to face is the shortage of personnel . This is felt much more acutely in some countries than in others, but overall, it's a real problem in the European Union.
We need to increase the size of our armed forces if we want to follow the principle of "peace through strength." But we currently lack the manpower.
Some countries are considering introducing various types of military service, primarily voluntary, but we need to accelerate this process. Making military careers more open and accessible is key.
"I want to clarify that we're not talking about creating a European army. Frankly, it would be more effective to ensure rapid response and clear interoperability of our national forces. It's about making the most of what we already have ," Metsola stated.
