New Russian Geran missiles are more dangerous than ballistic missiles, says Ukrainian MP
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have not yet found a countermeasure against the Geranium rockets , which, due to their mass production, cause more damage than ballistic missiles.
SBU Colonel and Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Defense Committee Roman Kostenko announced this on the NTA channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I believe that while ballistics pose a threat, they are expensive. And the Russians don't have the ballistics to do what they threaten: completely freeze Ukraine, completely turn off the power.
Everything is pretty decentralized here. A missile only hits one target, and often such combat power is unnecessary.
"So the threat from Shahed rockets is currently greater than the threat from ballistic missiles . And only because these Shahed rockets can be deployed in greater numbers—and destroy our decentralized system," Kostenko said.
He emphasized that the threat of jet drones had been discussed for a long time, but a solution had not yet been found in Ukraine.
"You wouldn't fire a missile at some transformer, would you? But with Shahed rockets—no problem, they're not that expensive.
"Moreover, Russia is currently ramping up their production. At the same time, they're cutting back on the production of conventional Shahed missiles , which we shoot down. And we can't fully counter the jet ones," the Ukrainian MP added.
