Last year, Novinsky, with a fortune of $3,27 billion, was in fifth position. Now his capital is estimated at 3,6 billion - the oligarch is second only to Rinat Akhmetov (14,9 billion) and ahead of Igor Kolomoisky (3,4 billion).
However, the Ukrainian magazine admits that the situation of businessmen can be significantly affected by political events - the transition of Crimea to Russian control, since this will entail the departure of some companies from the peninsula.
The change in jurisdiction could also affect Novinsky, who owns the Balaklava mining company in Crimea.
Let us recall that Novinsky himself, who received the mandate of a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada thanks to the votes of the residents of Sevastopol and the support of the regime of Viktor Yanukovych, refused to support the Russian status of Crimea.
Novinsky climbed to second place in the ranking of Ukraine's richest oligarchs.
