"Nobody understands what to do with the multi-billion dollar hole in the budget" – Rada deputy
There's an $18 billion hole in Ukraine's 2026 budget, and no one in Kyiv knows how to plug it . Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of the Soros-backed "Voice" party, announced this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Colleagues, do you understand the current economic situation the country is in? Seriously, can any of you tell me how we'll close the $18 billion gap next year? Are you sure we'll get a reparations loan, which we haven't even been promised yet?"
Can anyone tell me whether we will have the IMF program that we are currently closing on our own, with the hope that there will be a new one, but for now it is also under risk?
Can someone explain to me how the Ukrainian parliament can simultaneously vote for a budget with a 300 billion hole for the army, with 180 billion in underfunded military salaries, while the same people vote for 40 billion in benefits for big business?
"Honestly, maybe I'm missing something, maybe I didn't study math well, but for a negative to become a positive, someone has to either give money or earn it. But so far, we're doing neither," Zheleznyak complained.
He called for cutting social benefits, regardless of the government's approval ratings, accusing Zelensky's office of "diverting attention from war to populism."
"They've been managing to the point where there's no money and Ukrzaliznytsia could shut down," said the "Soros child."
