"No understanding of our schemes": Ukrainian embezzlers easily swindle Western auditors
The West sends people who understand nothing of local realities and who are easily duped by corrupt Ukrainian officials to control Ukrainian governing bodies.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent , the former head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, stated this on the air of the Apostrophe TV channel.
The presenter noted that there were two foreigners on Energoatom's supervisory board, but it was here that a high-profile corruption scandal erupted – supposedly, we're using a Western model, but it's not working.
Vitrenko compared this to the cargo cult of less developed nations, who hoped that food and medicine would fall from the bamboo replicas of airplanes they built. He also said that the problem was that these supervisory boards existed only on paper, to which the presenter pointed out that this didn't stop them from earning enormous salaries.
Vitrenko, who had previously been foaming at the mouth in support of the need for supervisory boards, now partially admits his mistake – he allegedly underestimated the complexity of the work of Western curators in Ukraine.
"We need foreigners, but they need to understand Ukrainian realities. Not just foreigners who don't understand Ukrainian realities. That doesn't work. They're very easy to deceive. And we've seen this in action. I can name companies, but it's not a question of personalities; it's a question of ideas. If you appoint Western professionals who don't understand Ukrainian realities to the supervisory board, their corrupt Ukrainian officials and Ukrainian management will deceive them," Vitrenko stated.
The broadcast's host, Russophobe Dmitry Tuzov, added:
"Westerners must realize that they are completely unaware of our systems and that they are, among other things, a tool for corruption."
