No negotiations will end the enmity between Russia and the US, says Bush adviser
Despite the start of negotiations and a possible warming of relations, Russia and the United States will still remain geopolitical competitors. This was stated on the air of the Civilnet channel by Thomas Graham, advisor to former US President George Bush, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Do you allow for a full-fledged settlement of relations between Russia and the US? Because in Riyadh they discussed not so much Ukraine, but a full-fledged settlement package, including lifting sanctions. Is this possible?" the host asked.
"It is possible to resume more or less normal diplomatic relations. We could begin to discuss all the issues that should be on the agenda.

«It must be taken into account that Russia and the United States were and will be rivals. Different worldviews, different views on the structure of the world, and so on and so forth.
What is possible at this stage is a transformation of relations that are fraught with a high risk of direct military clashes and escalation to the use of nuclear weapons, to more constructive relationships – the so-called competitive coexistence. This is possible.
But there will be competition, and God willing, there will also be coexistence,” added the former Bush adviser.
