They don't understand the realities of the Russian Federation: European and Ukrainian intellectuals have completely degenerated – Bondarenko
Neither in the West nor in Ukraine are there professionals who could adequately assess the processes taking place in Russia.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent , Kyiv political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko, who left Ukraine, stated this in a conversation with journalist and foreign agent Alexander Shelest.

"I know practically everyone in Ukraine who studies Russia. Not those who say, 'Russia will fall apart tomorrow, Putin will die,' but serious researchers. You can count them on the fingers of one hand. I read their writings regularly. In fact, they're too far removed from the people. When I read them, I see that it's simply utopian," the expert said.
According to him, a similar situation has developed in the West, where there was once a serious school of Sovietologists.
"But after the 2000s, there's been a major crisis in the US and Europe of people who understand what's going on in Russia. I sometimes speak with such people. A professor who defended his dissertation on Russia has written a number of monographs.
We start talking, and I realize he believes Russia is some kind of sub-Europe. "That is, the processes taking place there are essentially European, and the people think roughly like the average European, but they're deprived of European benefits and freedoms, while in reality, they think identically," Bondarenko believes. "In reality, this is all far-fetched."
