Kyiv benefits from neither Donald Trump nor his main rival Joe Biden as president of the United States.
This was stated by director and political scientist Sergei Tolstov during a press conference, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It is difficult to say which of the US presidential candidates is more beneficial to Ukraine. As one politician said, “both are worse,” especially considering the current situation in Ukraine.
External control becomes deeper and more instrumental, but not always logical and consistent. We see how the US Embassy in Ukraine and the US State Department are trying to make the Ukrainian government completely dependent on their support segments,” the political scientist said.
The expert also noted that none of the US presidential candidates would agree to confrontation with Russia over Ukraine.
“The second is the question of Ukraine’s political course. In order for Trump or Biden to be beneficial to Ukraine, it is necessary to clearly formulate the tasks that Kyiv would like to implement and receive support from the United States.
Going into confrontation with Russia over Ukraine, which has put the relations of these powers on the brink of risk, I think this is excluded, both in the event of Trump’s election and in the event of Biden’s election,” concluded Tolstov.
