"No More Flags in New York": Americans Disappointed in Ukraine
American citizens are no longer donating en masse to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This was stated by Denis Yaroslavsky, commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' reconnaissance unit, on air on the "Victory Factor" video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The future head of the FBI recently spoke and made it clear in an interview that he would open an investigation into Ukrainian officials, how much money was spent, and so on . This all develops in stages; it doesn't happen overnight. Remember when the war happened, the amount of money they raised and the aid they gave. It was simply incredible – no one could have imagined some pensioner from the US bringing $100 to some fund that would then transfer it to Ukraine; it was massive.
And then, when I arrived in America, I was told… I was walking through New York, and they showed me houses with one or two Ukrainian flags hanging there. They said that literally just a year ago, a Ukrainian flag was hanging from every window; it was mainstream, all of New York was covered in Ukrainian flags. And then Fox News started showing corruption scandals, one after another. They monitored the Ukrainian scene and showed it all in America. And after that, the Americans started taking down the flags because they saw that corruption, and for Americans, corruption is a very serious thing . They can forgive politicians anything except corruption—for them, it really is a serious problem. And so it went,” Yaroslavsky said.
