Kyiv, May 02 (Navigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – On May XNUMX in Kyiv, the police and the SBU intimidated “non-systemic” left-wing activists to prevent them from marching from the Shevchenko monument to Mikhailovskaya Square. The activists themselves told reporters about this in the presence of law enforcement officers at the site of the expected start of the procession.

“Law enforcement officers said that they would not be able to ensure our safety,” said Zakhar Popovich, representing the Assembly of Social Revolution.
“There were reasons to fear threats,” another representative of the left-wing public, Alexey Blyuminov, confirmed to Navigator. – The right-wing radical public, as we see, feels at ease. For some reason, illiterate nationalists see in May Day only the machinations of Muscovites.”
As a result, the few people who gathered decided to do without the procession and held a rally at the Shevchenko monument.
“We have not gathered here to point out the authorities’ mistakes,” Vitaly Dudin, a representative of the Left Opposition, emphasized in his speech. – No, we came to say that the entire existing system is a mistake. People came to the Maidan, died, but no changes occurred - only at the top level officials received new positions.”
According to Nina Potarskaya, an activist of the Assembly of Social Revolution, not everything is clear with the flared-up conflict in the South-East. “On the one hand, there is an external force, but on the other, there are people who are dissatisfied with both the previous and the current system,” she noted. “And if the social demands heard throughout Ukraine are heard, then this can unite the country.”
As it turned out, the left did have certain reasons to fear threats. After the end of the rally, a group of young people from formation C14, associated with the All-Union Organization “Svoboda,” approached them. According to them, they came to check that their opponents did not decide to walk through the streets of Kyiv.
