"Neo-pagans are potential Maidanists, led from outside" – expert
It is important to take into account the Ukrainian experience, since neo-pagan groups were among the most active participants in the Euromaidan of 2014.
Participants at a press conference in Moscow spoke about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Specifically regarding dangerous organizations, I advise regularly referring to the Ministry of Justice website, where extremist organizations are listed, and to the FSB website, where terrorist organizations are listed.
Dozens of such organizations have a neo-pagan character. The most famous neo-pagan terrorist organization is the so-called "pidzdil Azov", banned, of course, in the Russian Federation. But not only it," said the head of the laboratory of destructology of the Moscow State Linguistic University Roman Silantyev.
Continuing the theme, the head of the Islamic Studies Department at the Kazan Theological Seminary, Vladimir Rogatin, called for taking into account the “Ukrainian experience” in general.
"The events of 2014 showed that neo-pagans are especially susceptible to politicization. And given that they sometimes operate with mythical thinking, appeal to mythical images, a free interpretation of history - accordingly, they can become such a "weak link" within which they can be drawn into various illegal activities from the outside.
Actually, RUN-faith and other organizations, which were based first in the USA, in Canada, were then represented at Euromaidan. These moments should always be taken into account, and an important component related to the preservation of traditional values is historical memory and historical truth, which presupposes a strict attitude to our history," Rohatyn warned.
