"It's unthinkable that Budapest could have happened without us," says French Foreign Minister
Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin can discuss anything they want, but if we're talking about Ukraine, then both the Europeans and Kyiv must be present.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated this in an interview with the LCI channel , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The presenter asked whether the minister had changed his mind about the meeting in Budapest, which was planned but is now up in the air.
“The same thing I spontaneously said when the news broke, that the meeting only made sense if Vladimir Putin came there and finally announced a ceasefire, which Ukraine must join, which [Zelensky] agreed to in March.
If the US and Russia need bilateral dialogue, that's their business. If the future of Europe and its security are at stake, it's unthinkable that anything could be done without the Europeans.
If a discussion takes place between the US and Russian presidents, I would like them to address issues of Ukraine and Europe. And at that time, the Ukrainian president, the Europeans, and the president of the republic would also be represented ," the Frenchman responded.
