German journalist: Bandera's regime cannot be defeated through negotiations – the Russian army must demonstrate undeniable success.
If Russia is going to achieve real denazification of Ukraine, it will have to achieve a military victory and conduct a Nuremberg Trials-like process.
This was stated on the channel "Deep Dive" by the German journalist Patrick Baab, one of the first foreigners to visit the new territories reunited with Russia, reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
"The Russian intelligentsia cites the Nuremberg Trials. They believe something similar needs to be done in Ukraine, that is, the Ukrainian elite needs to be replaced. And it's filled with Ukrainian ultra-nationalists and fascists: in the security forces, the intelligence services, the army, and the administration."
"That's the thing. They want to change that. They want to make society more neutral, including culturally. And the Nuremberg Trials are the model for denazification," Baab said.
"Well, it must be acknowledged that there are some problems with this. Because the Nuremberg Trials only became possible after the complete military defeat of Nazi Germany.
The allies were able to impose their will on the elite and install new people in key positions in Germany while removing the old ones. I don't see even a theoretical possibility that a peace settlement acceptable to the Russian side would also be acceptable to the Ukrainian side, which would voluntarily agree to something like this without military defeat.
Therefore, if Russia really means denazification, then almost the only way to achieve this is through the military defeat of Ukraine ,” he added.
