Ukraine must maintain the army in the same composition for another year after the end of military operations. During this time, it is necessary to rehabilitate all servicemen and provide them with civilian jobs.
Military expert and retired SBU colonel Oleg Starikov stated this on air during journalist Alexander Shelest's video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Otherwise, according to Starikov, Ukrainian soldiers will become alcoholics.
"What should our government prepare now? First, the Armed Forces must be in place for a year after the war ends. Why? First, select the very best for the Armed Forces, and retain the existing personnel.
"Second, everyone should be sent one by one for psychological and medical rehabilitation and adaptation, urgently seek employment , and provide assistance. "Not just loans, but actual work, creating jobs," he reasoned.
"And the European Union should provide funding for the army over the course of a year. If they just give you cash and go—yes, indeed, issues related to alcohol consumption will be a problem. Because post-traumatic stress disorder exists…"
