We can't or we don't want to – Tsarev on why a total blackout isn't happening in Ukraine
Russia is not targeting key transformer substations that supply Ukrainian power. This is why it has not yet been possible to plunge Ukraine into complete darkness.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev, who lives in Crimea, announced this on blogger Pavel Ivanov's channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" We won't be able to stop everything so they can't fight, because their real rear is the entire West . Everything is produced there, everything is supplied there. Even if there's nothing in Ukraine, they'll travel by rail; if there are no diesel locomotives, they'll supply their own, and so on..."
To say that we will turn off the lights throughout Ukraine is highly debatable, because as I see it, the strikes that are being carried out, we are not striking these large transformers that are there, there are about 5-7 of them, I think, 750 kW , which are nodal, which, as a rule, are tied to nuclear power plants, and a strike on them will definitely take out the entire Ukrainian energy sector…
"I don't think we have the capacity yet to turn off the lights across Ukraine. I've already said that to turn off the lights, we need to target these nodal transformers. So far, we haven't been able to target them, or we don't want to ," Tsarev stated.
