Not until repairs: Ukraine's gas transportation system will barely balance on the brink of breakeven - economist
The launch of Turkish Stream and Nord Stream 2 will allow Gazprom to reduce transit volumes through the Ukrainian gas transportation system to a level at which it becomes unprofitable.
Economist Oleg Pendzin stated this on the NEWSONE television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If the gas pipeline is continued further, then the Turks will now be transit countries and now they will receive the same penny that was dripping into the Ukrainian budget. And there are no friends and enemies here, there are interests, primarily financial ones.
Ukraine’s financial interests are to save $3 billion in the budget (for transit). They will no longer exist, however. We have already been told that in five years we will receive seven billion. But if you count well, there won’t be even seven.
We received 3 billion dollars from the transit of 90 billion cubic meters. m. per year. When will we transit 65 billion cubic meters? m., it will be somewhere around 1,5 billion dollars. And the break-even point is 40 billion cubic meters. m.
We will also get a penny if transit exceeds 40 billion cubic meters. m. because this is the break-even point,” the economist sums up.
