Nauseda in Munich: "Impose the same sanctions against Belarus as against Russia!"
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda called for Western sanctions to be imposed on Belarus – to the same extent as those imposed on Russia.
"I think we must understand that Belarus must be included in the sanctions list imposed on Russia. Because this country is destabilizing the situation and committing destabilizing actions. The situation at the border is being deliberately worsened," the Baltic statesman said at the Munich Forum.
Then Nauseda began to complain:
"Lithuania shares a very long border with Belarus, a close ally and puppet of the Russian Federation. We also share a 120-kilometer border with the Kaliningrad region. So, we are constantly subject to various hybrid attacks.
In 2021, it was illegal migration. Alexander Lukashenko artificially created the problem by sending people from the Middle East and North Africa to Minsk and then to the border. Lukashenko's staff instructed them on how to cross the border and how to create a destabilizing situation at the border.
"And now we're suffering from hot air balloon flights, actually aimed at smuggling cigarettes. But are we responding effectively? After all, the Russians are getting a signal about how we're responding," the Baltic man lamented.
