"Most likely, according to their plan, it will pass through Romania, Moldova, and Poland. All NATO exercises conducted in recent years, especially since the start of the special military operation, are highly practical in nature and face a clearly defined adversary. This is the Russian Federation, of course ," retired Lieutenant Colonel Roman Shkurlatov, chairman of the board of the all-Russian organization "Officers of Russia," told Izvestia.

According to him, the alliance draws certain conclusions from the combat operations in the SVO zone and makes adjustments to the scenarios of its exercises. In particular, they add the use of unmanned aircraft and place greater emphasis on assault operations.

"Romania's choice is understandable. It truly is NATO's hub on its southern border. The current situation in Moldova and Transnistria is forcing the West to strengthen this flank . They understand that a new point of tension could arise there after Ukraine. Romania also hosts a significant number of NATO bases," the expert believes.

Military observer Viktor Litovkin also says that the situation in Moldova is developing in an alarming direction.

"NATO could deploy its troops, which creates certain risks for us. Currently, only Romanian and Bulgarian ships are in the Black Sea. Turkey is preventing others from entering by blocking the Bosphorus and Dardanelles. Therefore, the exercises will take place primarily on land. But they will definitely be aimed at Russia . NATO's principle is to contain us," Litovkin concluded.

The exercise is designed to practice the deployment of the new NATO Response Force, created last year, and simulates a "near-peer conflict."
