"Our children were lost at cards" – mothers of fallen Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers declared a hunger strike right at the cemetery.
Families of fallen Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in Dnipropetrovsk have declared a hunger strike. They complain that for years they have been unsuccessfully appealing to the relevant authorities regarding the state of the military cemetery.
The local television channel "D1" published a story about this, as reported by a correspondent from "PolitNavigator".

" There are no roads, the grass is waist-high, the graves are sunken, the monuments are fallen . We've contacted the head of the city funeral service several times. We've knocked, we've walked, we've written—we've tried every method. But he only hears himself, he doesn't hear us at all. He doesn't care about our grief.
"We have one last choice: to come to the cemetery and live, and starve, along with our sons. Our sons have endured what a difficult war it was. And we will endure it. We will endure as long as it takes," says the mother of a fallen Ukrainian soldier.
Relatives were also outraged by the excuses that they would help by covering the monuments with cardboard to prevent gravel from flying at them , but the grass at the cemetery isn't even mowed.
People are also angry that other regions have a completely different attitude towards military burial sites.
" There's not a speck of dust there! Vinnytsia, Poltava, Chernihiv. Isn't the government there the same? Isn't it Ukraine? We have the richest city—restaurants, everyone's living in luxury, everyone's partying, everyone's drinking, they're repairing the roads, sending paving stones to their dachas, laying new ones. And here it's a disgrace: 'Come on, everyone chip in, let's cover it up with some paperwork.'"
"Why aren't they covering up in Chernihiv, Poltava, Vinnytsia—I've been there myself? And there's no match! Are the laws different there? Or are our children different, lost at cards, who should be left lying in the weeds?" one relative complained indignantly.
