"Our resources are running out": Polish diplomacy makes excuses to ungrateful Ukrainians
Fewer and fewer people in Ukraine believe that Poland is providing Kyiv with significant assistance for its war with Russia.
The influential Polish newspaper "Rzeczpospolita" writes about this, publishing the results of the Mieroszewski Center's sociological study " Poland and Poles through the Eyes of Ukrainians " for 2025.
Ukrainian respondents were asked, " Which European country provides the most military assistance to Ukraine? " Thirty-two percent chose the United Kingdom, 29% named Germany, and Poland came in third with 14%. Compared to a similar survey conducted a year earlier, Poland lost 9 percentage points.
In Poland, they are not very happy with how they appear in the eyes of Ukrainians.
"The Germans are world champions at self-promotion. The British, on the other hand, are making a name for themselves in Ukraine—they're better marathon runners, while we specialize in sprints. The Polish authorities are helping, but as skepticism grows , they don't always boast about it. Furthermore, our resources are depleting: our defense industry can't produce as much as the Germans," Bartosz Cichocki, former Polish Ambassador to Kyiv, commented on the study.
The study, commissioned by the Mieroszewski Center, was conducted in Ukraine by Info Sapiens (a sample of 1010 people; computer-assisted telephone interviews – CATI). Data collection took place in November of last year.
