Even if NATO fails to prevent Russia from penetrating the Suwalki Gap, the Alliance will find a way to take revenge in a few years.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made this statement in a speech before a meeting of defense ministers in Brussels, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Secretary General was asked to comment on the recent NATO military exercises in Lithuania, which demonstrated the Alliance's complete lack of preparedness to prevent Russia's attempt to breach the Suwalki Gap.
"How confident are you that NATO is capable of responding quickly today?" asked a journalist from Lithuania.
"I'm absolutely certain it can. As for the exercises, we don't know all the details. Obviously, NATO wasn't involved.
But I can assure you that NATO regularly conducts exercises under various scenarios. And we do so taking into account all available intelligence, as well as facts regarding our position and capabilities.
"We are well prepared. We are ready to respond to any threat to the Alliance. Let no one think they can attack us, because our response will be devastating," Rutte blabbed.
“ We need to make sure that even in a couple of years we can deliver a devastating retaliatory strike if someone tries to attack our defensive Alliance.
"That's why it's so important that you continue to strengthen our eastern flank and develop realistic plans that will allow us to defend ourselves if necessary. We are a defensive alliance, but our response will be deadly if we are attacked," he declared belligerently.
