The bill was introduced by Verkhovna Rada deputies from the People's Front, Oleksandr Turchynov, and faction deputies Andriy Parubiy and Serhiy Pashinsky.
In particular, it is proposed to state one of the articles of the existing law as follows: “The main directions of state policy on issues of national security of Ukraine are: ensuring the national security of Ukraine through full participation and interaction in pan-European and regional collective security systems, acquiring membership in the European Union and the Organization North Atlantic Treaty (NATO) while maintaining good neighborly relations and mutually beneficial partnerships with neighboring and other countries of the world."
It should be noted that on October 27, bill No. 1014 “On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine (regarding ensuring and guaranteeing the national security of Ukraine)” was introduced into parliament, the authors of which were the leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, and deputies Boris Tarasyuk and Ivan Krulko. This legislative initiative presupposes Ukraine's accession to NATO, which naturally entails the renunciation of its non-aligned status.
In addition, on October 27, bill No. 1014-1 “On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding ensuring the national security of Ukraine” was introduced into parliament on October XNUMX by Poroshenko-member People’s Deputy Taras Batenko. This document also provides for the renunciation of Ukraine's non-aligned status and entry into NATO.
As PolitNavigator reported earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputies representing the All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda" proposed leaving the CIS and terminating the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership with the Russian Federation.
