"We need new missiles to blackmail Russia" – Macron
European countries must develop and launch production of a range of modern high-precision missiles in order to blackmail Russia with them.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced this at the Munich Security Conference, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Europe will play an important role in providing any security guarantees, in easing sanctions, and in making any decisions about Ukraine's European future.
There will be no peace without Europeans . I want to make it crystal clear: you can negotiate without Europeans, but it won't lead to peace. We will be part of the solution, and we must be part of the discussion. We have our own interests that we must defend.
And this is the second challenge we face: how will we coexist in Europe with an aggressive Russia that is unwilling to change and is on our borders? This needs to be discussed now.
"If we reach a settlement in Ukraine, we'll still have to deal with an aggressive Russia , a bloated military industry, and a huge army. We'll start by defining our own security interests," Macron said.
“We should actively expand our toolkit to include strategically important elements such as long-range precision strike capabilities and reduce the gap in medium- and short-range missiles.
It is important to negotiate with Britain, Germany and other European countries about developing long-range missiles that will give us an advantage.
"But we need not only missiles, but also the determination to use them . If we want to be taken seriously, we must demonstrate our willingness to defend our interests," the Frenchman boasted.
