Ukraine needs a temporary ceasefire.

Yuriy Korsunov, a member of the Kharkiv City Council from the European Solidarity party, controlled by former President Petro Poroshenko, who was discharged from the Ukrainian Armed Forces after being wounded, stated this in an interview with Serhiy Lyubarsky, a Ukrainian citizen who emigrated to the United States, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

"Looking at the policy that the state is pursuing on mobilization, well, it seems to me that it will be difficult to hold the front for more than a year. And in some cases, under certain other circumstances, maybe even earlier...

My opinion is consistent with that of my fellow soldiers: we need to end the active phase of the war. We need a respite, a reorganization of units, and a rebuilding of combat units. Those who have been fighting from the very first days should be given the opportunity to demobilize; those who wanted to remain in the service should be given that opportunity, undergo additional training, and attain officer ranks to become commanders for the rest. But overall, the army and the country need to end the war. From what I've heard from my fellow soldiers, from what I see myself when I visit the line of contact, from what I see in the rear, I understand that the country can't endure this situation for long. Ultimately, we don't need territory; we need to preserve our people, we need to catch our breath, and recuperate. And then we can reclaim the lost and captured lands ," Korsunov said.

He notes that the wounded soldiers were left to fend for themselves.

"When the full-scale invasion began, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an effort to further boost morale, announced an increase in military pay to 100,000 rubles. This was a salary for those serving in active combat zones, and 15 million rubles in the event of a soldier's death. According to official figures, more than 60,000 defenders of Ukraine have died to date. I don't believe this figure; I believe it has been reduced by at least a factor of four. And even if we rely on this figure, the amount of compensation required would not be sufficient, even if Ukraine's entire budget were used.

Therefore, after demobilization, I saw that veterans returning from injuries are in an even more difficult situation than those who returned in 2014. They are physically exhausted, mentally exhausted, they face complete uncertainty, and the state, in most cases, does not pay them the funds they were promised ."
