Thus, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, during a meeting with the head of Naftogaz, said that a “historic decision” had been made.
Poroshenko also assures that the $2,5 billion that Gazprom still owes will be “immediately transferred to the account” of Naftogaz. At the same time, the president said that “the victory was achieved thanks to the coordinated work of Naftogaz management, the government and the president.
“And once we’ve dealt with 1000 pages of text, we’ll look at our future energy strategy,” Poroshenko added.
In turn, the chairman of the Popular Front parliamentary faction, Maxim Burbak, said that the victory in arbitration was thanks to the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk, which started this case in 2014.
According to the politician, the decision of the Stockholm arbitration court was “another defeat for the Kremlin.”
“Thanks to two victories in the Stockholm arbitration, Ukraine saved more than $60 billion. An aggressor country has never had such a winning amount in the world,” said Burbak.
