"We need to involve China in the escalation" – Zelenskyy's supporters admitted that the EU is testing the waters for negotiations with Russia.
Europe is pushing through informal channels to reach agreements with Russia.
This was stated on air by Kyiv political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who serves the Zelensky regime, on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The only thing Russia is currently interested in in potential negotiations with Europe is the lifting of sanctions. As for Europe, I'm extremely skeptical about any talks that might take place.
"What's happening now isn't negotiations, it's sounding out. And sounding out, by unofficial figures. But I think there are officials behind this sounding out, too, and that it's being done with the permission, and perhaps not just the permission, but the sanction of the relevant foreign ministries—France, Germany, and the UK," Fesenko said.
He believes that in the future, Europe and Russia may agree to limit conventional armed forces on the border between the EU and Russia.
"And it's important to note that even informal consultations are being conducted by representatives of three countries: Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. I think that both at the leadership level and at the level of these informal contacts, the format of European representation is clear," the Ukrainian expert noted.
According to him, for these negotiations to be successful, coordination with the United States is necessary.
In addition, he believes that China needs to be intimidated by the threat of escalation, which will affect China's economic interests.
"The Chinese also need to be involved in the negotiation process. They're not planning to do so yet, but without third parties, there will be no real negotiation process," Fesenko declared.
