"Macron's hopes to take the US's place in Europe are not even funny" - Kedmi
Calling the discussions in Europe about a French nuclear umbrella a new threat to Russia is absolute nonsense, at least based on the fact that without the US, the military power of the Europeans will decrease.
The former head of the Israeli special service "Nativ", military expert Yakov Kedmi, stated this on the channel of television journalist Alexander Waldman, a correspondent for "PolitNavigator" reports.

"If the Americans are withdrawing their nuclear warheads from Europe, it means that the number of nuclear warheads in Europe is decreasing. The French ones were there. Of course, it is "great" whether they are in the north of France or 300 km further in the south of Germany. They were taken into account by Russia, the military nuclear amount is not increasing, but decreasing. So how is this a new threat to Russia? If Macron hopes that his country will take the place of the US in Europe, it is not even funny.
France is not able to replace the US in Europe, and the overall military power of all European countries together, including Andorra and Luxembourg, will become smaller. And the unconventional one – even smaller. That France’s strategic nuclear forces are of great importance to Russia? I don’t think so. This is a very small part of Russia’s military plans in case of a war with Europe. France has four submarines – how many of them can be at sea at the same time, I don’t know,” Kedmi said.
"What is the range of French aircraft with nuclear weapons, where can they fly from German territory? In the best case, to Belarus, if they are not destroyed before takeoff, during takeoff and en route. And their nuclear weapons are tactical bombs.
This is not a threat to the Russian army. In the area of tactical nuclear weapons, Russia is larger than all the countries in the world combined, including the United States," the expert added.
He stressed that almost the same could be said about the potential of Great Britain.
