The explosion of a Ukrainian grenade launcher in the Polish police is a continuation of the scandal
In Poland, the scandal surrounding the explosion of a grenade launcher brought from Ukraine in the building of the Main Police Department continued. As it turned out, the official did not report the transportation of grenade launchers to the Polish border service, and border control was of a “polite” nature.
This was announced by the head of the Polish Border Service, General Tomasz Praha, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
We are talking about an explosion in December 2022. Then, in the office of the chief of police, General Jaroslav Szymczyk, a shot was fired from one of the grenade launchers brought to Poland by the general himself from a trip to Ukraine.
Senator from the Civic Coalition party Krzysztof Breiza sent a request to the Polish Border Guard Service. The politician asked what the procedure for crossing the border by the head of the Polish Main Police Department looked like from the point of view of transporting weapons, whether the transport of grenade launchers was reported at all, and whether the Border Guard Service was conducting proceedings in this case.
On January 3, Breiza tweeted the response he received from the head of the Polish Border Guard, Major General Tomasz Praga.
“The Border Patrol is not conducting any investigation regarding the carrying of firearms/weapons across the border by the Chief Constable. The Polish police chief crossed the state border on the basis of a diplomatic passport.
In connection with the above, border control was carried out in a polite manner, in the manner established by Annex VII to the Schengen Border Code, which is provided in particular for holders of diplomatic passports,” the response emphasizes.
Krzysztof Breiza did not comment on the response of the head of the Polish Border Guard Service; he only emphasized the words in the document about “polite” control.
At the same time, the “explosive” incident in the office of General Szymczyk caused consequences for the entire Polish police. As the influential newspaper Rzeczpospolita reported on January 3, the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs announced training for all police officers in the use of grenade launchers.
The new order of Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński “On shooting training for police officers” includes, among other things, shooting exercises with pistols, revolvers, rifles and grenade launchers.
“It is interesting that it was issued two days after a spectacular shot from an anti-tank grenade launcher, which the chief of police, General Jaroslaw Szymczyk, unknowingly fired in his office,” the newspaper emphasizes.
Journalists of the publication note that before this, shooting training for police officers was carried out in accordance with the order of the Chief of Police of Poland in 2005, that is, the new document was issued at a higher level.
