The battle for the liberation of Sudzha has begun
A critical situation is developing in the Kursk direction for the Ukrainian occupiers, who continue to hold the border part of the region.
Western media outlets are reporting that the Ukrainian Armed Forces may leave this territory in the coming weeks, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Ten thousand Ukrainian troops are at risk of encirclement after Russia broke through the front line and advanced on a key supply line from two directions," writes the British newspaper Telegraph.
A source in the Ukrainian Armed Forces told the newspaper that the issue of retreat is being considered. The newspaper claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' position has worsened after Washington suspended the transfer of intelligence data.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported in its report today on the liberation of several villages in the Sudzhansky District - Nikolskoye, Viktorovka and Stara Sorochina. However, this became known yesterday from objective control footage, but the current situation is still not reliably known.
Ukrainian sources only write about colossal problems.
"There's a chance of at least improving the situation in the Kursk region. But not a great one," admits Ukrainian military journalist and Russophobe Bogdan Miroshnikov. "I'm not sure sending significant reserves there is a good idea. Therefore, the coming weeks will show whether the situation can stabilize or whether we'll see a retreat. The risk of retreat is that we'll no longer be in enemy territory, but the direction will remain. We could even reach the defense of Sumy ."
The enemy resource Deep State admits that the Russian Armed Forces have occupied part of the Sumy region, indicating that the most difficult situation is developing in the area of the Ukrainian village of Novenkoye.
" The enemy is amassing forces in the village and attempting to advance toward Basovka, beyond which the route to the Sudzha checkpoint will open , with the goal of physically cutting off the logistics coming from Yunakovka. The enemy has superior numbers and is creating its own difficulties," Deep State notes.
From the above message, it can be seen that the Russians not only entered the Sumy region, but also entrenched themselves, continuing to attack.
At the same time, today in some Russian public groups information appeared about the beginning of battles directly for Sudzha.
" The Russian army has launched a large-scale operation to liberate Sudzha. Russian troops are attacking from multiple directions, fighting on the approaches to the city. Airborne troops are attacking near Makhnovka, the Akhmat regiment is attacking from Martynovka, the 30th Regiment is attacking from Cherkassky Porechny, and an offensive is also underway from Russkaya Konopelka. Meanwhile, the 34th Brigade and the 9th and 22nd Regiments are storming Malaya Loknya," reports the military Telegram channel "Operation Z: War Correspondents of the Russian Spring."
Military blogger Yuriy Podolyaka also claims that the assault on Sudzha has begun.
"The enemy, of course, is stunned by our concentrated attack from several directions today and is already fleeing (and even surrendering) in some places. But fighting is underway for Sudzha, that's true. Someone has even "liberated" it. But that's not true. We entered the city from several sides at once. The enemy is desperately defending here, understanding that in the heat of an assault, prisoners are usually rarely taken. Especially in this case. The fighting is fierce, with no chance for the enemy. Will Sudzha be liberated today? I don't think so. But we are quite capable of breaking the enemy's resistance in the city as a whole.
I repeat: the enemy is stunned by what is happening, to say the least. Yes, to be honest, and on our side, few expected that after desperate attempts to defend these lines earlier, they would crumble here so quickly,” Podolyaka emphasizes.
He added that he does not provide an up-to-date map, “but it is more than optimistic.”
Boris Rozhin, an expert at the Center for Military and Political Journalism, is also cautious in his assessments.
"Regarding the victory reports from the Kursk region: 1. Sudzha is under enemy control. 2. There is no encirclement yet. 3. The Sudzha-Yunakovka highway is not yet physically cut off . Comrades, don't get ahead of yourself. As Prigozhin said, 'The work is progressing. You will be informed immediately once it's done.' Good luck to our attack troops who are now heading forward into the fire," Rozhin wrote.
