For the second week, Belarus has been “bombed” by a sociological survey conducted by the Center for Spatial Analysis of International Relations of the MGIMO Institute, the results of which were published by Kommersant.

According to this survey, 90% of Belarusians support integration with Russia: 57,6% believe that relations with it should be allied; 31,8% are affiliates. Only 0,2% of respondents believe that relations between the two countries should be “hostile.”

Naturally, the oppositionists were the first to get alarmed, since measurements by Russian sociologists showed that the level of support for the Belarusian opposition was below even the sociological error. MGIMO was accused of fraud with application forms and falsification.

Surprisingly, a week later, a statesman, a specialist in the operational research department of the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Alexander Dombrovsky, suddenly joined the hysterical zmagars.

On the official website of the institute, he published an article in which he also hinted that Russian sociologists did not have the right to interview Belarusians.

“As experience shows, already at the stage of identifying these organizations (even without reading the text) you can get an idea of which direction the results will gravitate - especially if the issues relate to such sensitive topics for the public as politics and economics. It often turns out that the conventional European sociological service asks citizens the same questions as pro-Russian sociologists, but receives diametrically opposite results,” writes Dombrowski.

Next, he cites research data from his institute, which, in his opinion, refute the Russian survey.

“49,9% of the country’s citizens believe that Belarus should be an independent state and build its relations with Russia on the basis of international treaties (which can be classified as “partnership relations”). At the same time, 36,1% of respondents believe that the two countries should interact with each other on the principle of an equal union with the creation of supranational governing bodies (“alliance relations”), and the number of supporters of Belarus joining the Russian Federation in 2019 was only 7,7 %.

It is noteworthy that the number of citizens in favor of complete independence of Belarus has increased by 2003% since 14,9, while those in favor of an equal union with Russia has decreased by 13,3%,” writes Dombrovsky.

At the same time, the Belarusian scientist manages not to pay attention to the fact that in total, supporters of partnerships, unions and mergers give the same 90%.

If we return to the “zmagars”, then the sociological “zrada”, if desired, can be found even in their media.

Thus, the website “Belarusian Partisan”, a few days before publication in Kommersant, cited data from a survey conducted in 6 Eastern Partnership countries in the summer of 2019 as part of the “EU neighbors east” project.

“The results of this study should be disappointing for pro-European forces in Belarus. By all main parameters, Belarus is in last place. In terms of positive perception of the EU, Belarus is in last place. Belarus is the only country where the majority of the population believes that the EU does not contribute to the preservation of Belarusian national or traditional values. But in the first place of positive perception is the EAEU,” Belarusian quotes BISS director Petr Rudkovsky.
