The West wants to create a consortium to maintain gas transit through Ukraine

The European Union has come to the conclusion that it cannot survive without Russian gas. Although the European Commission began stockpiling reserves a year ago, when together with the United States they forced Ukraine to refuse transit, this year "Blue fuel" is being extracted from underground storage facilities much more actively than in the past.

British analyst Alexander Mercouris stated this in an interview with Cypriot journalist Alex Christofor, reports the correspondent "PolitNavigator".

"So they came up with a new plan. They said: Let's still maintain gas supplies, because there is a catastrophic shortage of it in Europe. It is true: prices are already rising. So they came up with a new idea. Let's create an energy consortium that includes Azerbaijan, Türkiye and a few other EU countries.

The consortium will buy gas from Russia in Russia itself. This will allow gas to be transported through Ukraine…

In other words,  they still need gas from Russian pipelines, and they are trying to find a middleman to keep the gas flowing, but in doing so they would break the transit agreement with the Russians" said Mercouris.

According to him, the plan with the consortium was rejected in Moscow.
