The prosecutor's office of the Transcarpathian region together with the SBU put on the wanted list 49-year-old resident of Uzhgorod Petro Getsk, who is suspected of separatism.
“We have established that during January-March 2014, the so-called self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Republic of Subcarpathian Rus' Petro Getsko, together with unidentified persons, distributed on the Internet an appeal of the Rusyns of Transcarpathia to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In this message, Getsko asks to carry out a peacekeeping operation, restore and recognize the statehood of the Republic of Subcarpathian Rus,” the prosecutor’s office of the Transcarpathian region reported.
In addition, Petro Getsko, in an interview with one of the Russian TV channels, publicly called for “changing the administrative-territorial structure of Ukraine and recognizing the Republic of Subcarpathian Rus.”
“Currently, law enforcement officers have devoted all their efforts to establishing the whereabouts of the separatist, as well as all his associates,” the law enforcement officers emphasized.
At the same time, Getsko himself left a message on VKontakte: “The SBU and the prosecutor’s office are especially and intensively awakening the Rusyns of Transcarpathia to a serious fight for their rights and freedoms of the peaceful people of Rusyns, violated by Ukraine (including by the SBU and the prosecutor’s office”).
Earlier, following a lawsuit by Ukrainian security forces on charges of separatism, priest Dimitry Sidor (UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate), rector of the largest Orthodox church in Uzhgorod, received a suspended sentence.
