Kyiv, February 19 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The Maidan, burned during clashes with Berkut, will be restored by the new mayor of Kyiv; a memorial to the “fallen heroes of the revolution” should be erected on the square.
A corresponding initiative was voiced by political strategist Sergei Gaidai, who supports the protests in the capital.

“I never liked the architecture of Maidan Nezalezhnosti, built by Mayor Omelchenko to replace the previously located Soviet memorial to the revolution and Lenin. Independence gained on the ball. Therefore, instead of the real thing, there is a complete ceremonial soviet props. And now it will be independence and freedom won. It’s time for young and brave architects to think about ideas,” suggests Gaidai.
