The power shortage in Kyiv is worsening due to Russian strikes.

"Roughly speaking, the percentage of power outages, especially on Kyiv's left bank, averages 60-70% over the course of a day . Thermal Power Plant No. 5, which exclusively produced heat and water, was destroyed. Thermal Power Plant No. 6 in Troyeshchyna suffered very serious damage and was almost completely destroyed. The energy situation is becoming extremely dire, and businesses are closing, people are gradually moving, relocating from the affected areas to other parts of Kyiv, or even leaving the city altogether ," the political scientist said.

Citing official statistics, he reported that, by the end of January, 18 individual entrepreneurs had ceased their activities in Ukraine, of which more than 3 were registered in Kyiv and the surrounding region.

"For comparison's sake, so you understand, in January 2023, a war year, there were 11, and in January 2024, there were 15. So, it's clear that the business climate continues to decline and fade ," Bortnik worries.

 

According to him, even more problems will arise when the IMF-promoted special value-added tax for individual entrepreneurs is introduced.
