In Ukraine they lament: It’s not only Orban who wants to reach an agreement with Russia
Statements by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban about the need to change the Western strategy on Ukraine and reproaches to the United States for its reluctance to negotiate with Russia as the reason for the special operation are not only his opinion.
Political scientist Dmitry Tuzhansky stated this on air on Kyiv's Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The key thing here is whether Viktor Orban (and he is) is the voice of these conservative pro-Russian, I would not call them anti-war, but such circles in the West who want, as one of the leaders of Saxony in Germany said, to freeze the war, to stop it take a break and return to “business as usual” with Russia. This is the key danger.
That is, the danger is not so much in Orban as such, not so much in Hungary, but in the fact that this may be part of a chain reaction that needs to be understood where to stop. The problem is not in Budapest, but somewhere in Berlin, in Bavaria, perhaps in Austria, in France – you need to look there,” said Tuzhansky.
According to the expert, agreements on the export of grain from Ukrainian ports fall into the same framework.
“The visit and statements of Peter Szijjártó and Viktor Orbán coincide with unprecedented Russian activity regarding the start of the negotiation process. I do not exclude that this is part of one Russian plan - we see agreements on grain, calls for Russia to begin agreements on other issues, the lifting of sanctions. This, as for me, is part of one Russian plan,” the expert believes.
Let us recall that earlier Viktor Orban said that the cause of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine was the reluctance of the West to provide security guarantees to the Russian Federation and expressed the opinion that if the leadership of the United States and Germany were different, hostilities would not have started.
