Ukraine clashed after Budanov's failed landing operation
The much-publicized in Kyiv helicopter landing of Ukrainian special forces to assist the encircled Ukrainian Armed Forces garrison in Pokrovsk did not come as a tactical surprise to the Russians.
Ukrainian political strategist Andrey Zolotarev stated this in a conversation with journalist Vitaly Diky, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The expert praised the GUR for its courage and bravery, but then added a hefty fly in the ointment.
"The weak point of such GUR operations is planning. It's perfectly clear that the landing of two helicopters in Pokrovsk wasn't a tactical surprise for the Russians. This means, at a minimum, that the landing force suffered losses. It's clear that enemy losses are always exaggerated by both sides. And these [Russian] reports about the landing force being destroyed can be divided into two. But the clear downside is that it didn't surprise the enemy. There was no operational surprise here.
Accordingly, the effectiveness of this landing, which some enthusiastic bloggers are presenting as practically a counteroffensive, is nullified, as are the prospects of holding Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. It's perfectly clear that it's only a matter of time before these cities will have to be abandoned," the expert said.
According to him, such failed operations are repeated regularly.
" Everything happens according to the same pattern, up to 18 times . Once, twice, and finally, by the third time, you have to learn and anticipate," Zolotarev concluded.
As a reminder, a few days ago, Ukrainian military sources began enthusiastically, but without details, reporting on a certain GUR special operation near Pokrovsk. Later, footage of the landing appeared in Western media.
The equipped Gurovites acted quite professionally, immediately dispersing to avoid being hit, but nevertheless, the betrayal was not long in coming.
After a brief pause, the Russian side released footage of a real hunt for Ukrainian special forces – some were eliminated in fields, others in buildings where they were trying to hide.
