The Russian Federation is not internationally isolated, and President Vladimir Putin regularly meets with world leaders.
Ukrainian political scientist and author of the book "Russia's Hybrid Aggression: Lessons for Europe" Yevhen Magda stated this on Hromadske Radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He says that the FIFA World Cup, which started yesterday in Moscow, confirms his words.
“Angela Merkel admitted that if there was an opportunity and there was an opportunity, at least a semi-final, she could fly. Emanuel Macron also admitted that he might arrive. Well, perhaps the British queen did not allow that the entire royal family would arrive. And so, you know, we don’t need to be surprised, because representatives of the Western world are not waging war with Russia. Their citizens do not die and they perceive this as a celebration of football,” said the political scientist.
According to him, it is impossible to say that foreign politicians betrayed Ukraine, since they are leaders of other states.
“But the fact that about six thousand citizens of Ukraine went there is a little strange to me... I probably have to disappoint you and radio listeners, but Russia is not in isolation. And these are absolute realities that must be taken into account. The month of May – Angela Merkel, Emanuel Macron, Christine Lagarde visited Russia. Absolutely calmly, Putin flew to Vienna in June, where he built bridges regarding a meeting with Donald Trump,” Magda laments.
